Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 23, 2026
Overview
squatscroll is a screen-time management app that lets you earn screen time by completing lower body exercises. We built it with privacy in mind: the app has no user accounts, stores your personal data on your device, and does not sell your information to anyone.
squatscroll is operated by Guilherme Vaz, based in São Paulo, Brazil.
This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have. Please read it before using the app.
Data We Collect
Because squatscroll has no accounts, most data never leaves your device. The limited data that is collected falls into two categories:
Data processed entirely on your device (never sent to us):
- Camera / body pose data — The app uses your device's camera and Apple's Vision framework to count lower body exercises in real time. Video frames are processed locally and are never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Screen Time settings — App usage limits you configure are managed through Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls APIs and stored by iOS on your device. squatscroll cannot read or export these settings.
- Exercise counts and screen time — Your earned screen time and activity history are saved in local app storage on your device only.
Data sent to third-party services:
- Subscription status — When you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the payment and Superwall manages paywall presentation. A randomized, app-specific identifier (not your name or email) may be associated with your subscription record.
- Product analytics — PostHog receives anonymised events about how you interact with the app (e.g., screens visited, features used, session length) to help us improve the product. These events are linked to a random device identifier, not to your identity.
- Diagnostics — If the app crashes or encounters an error, basic diagnostic information (device model, iOS version, crash trace) may be sent to PostHog to help us fix bugs.
How We Use Data
- App functionality — Counting lower body exercises, managing your screen time, and enforcing screen time limits.
- Subscription management — Validating your purchase and displaying the correct paywall experience via Superwall.
- Product improvement — Analysing anonymised usage patterns via PostHog to understand which features are working and where to improve.
- Bug fixing — Using crash and error reports to identify and resolve technical issues.
We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or any purpose not listed above.
Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data is shared only with the third-party services described in this policy, and only to the extent necessary for those services to function. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices & Rights
Because squatscroll has no user accounts, most data stays on your device and under your direct control.
- Delete app data: Uninstalling squatscroll removes all locally stored data from your device.
- Access or deletion requests: For any data held by our third-party services, email us at hello@squatscroll.app and we will assist you.
- Your legal rights: Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. California residents have the right to know what data is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@squatscroll.app.
The legal bases we rely on to process data are: performing our contract with you (subscription management), our legitimate interests (product improvement and bug fixing), and your consent where required (e.g., camera access, which iOS requests separately).
International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party providers (such as PostHog and Superwall) process data on servers in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally — including from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland — we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.
Children's Privacy
squatscroll is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please contact us at hello@squatscroll.app.
Push Notifications
squatscroll may send you local notifications (e.g., reminders to earn your screen time). These are generated on your device by iOS and do not require a push notification server or any personal data to be transmitted. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → squatscroll.
